Pennsylvania Home to 2nd Cuppy’s Coffee
Mechanicsburg PA welcomes the addition of Cuppy’s Coffee, Smoothies & More to the growing community. This will be Pennsylvania’s second Cuppy’s Coffee, the first located in Bridgeville PA opened last year.
The Patriot News had this to report on the opening of Cuppy’s Coffee
Jason Winters had a light bulb moment while in a coffee shop on business in New Jersey.
“I saw a guy sitting at a laptop and I thought ‘Why not open a coffee shop?’
This week, he, his wife, Joanne, and their son, Hunter, 8, are celebrating the grand opening of Cuppy’s Coffee Smoothies & More at 6416 Carlisle Pike, Silver Spring Twp. in the Silver Spring Square (with Wegmans and Target). The shop opened late last month.
Never heard of Cuppy’s? You’re not alone. This is the second one to open in Pennsylvania.
The 2-year old national chain operates more than 70 locations in the United States and Canada and is undergoing aggressive growth. The company aims to become a household name much like its counterpart, Starbucks, with more than 200 Cuppy’s scheduled to open nationwide this year.
Coffee is at the heart of the menu with standard drinks along with lattes, mochas, espressos and iced coffees. They blend smoothies in flavors such as mango breeze, berry delight, Cuppy’s colada and strawberry banana extreme.
Breakfast kicks off with egg, bacon or sausage and cheese croissants, French toast sticks, bagels and cereals. Lunch delves into sandwiches such as ham and cheese, turkey and bacon or roast beef barbecue along with salads and soups.
A kids’ menu focuses on peanut butter and jelly, apple sauce and milk, and a child-friendly section of the restaurant has toys, books, movies and learning laptops. The menu also includes baked goods — cookies, muffins, assorted cakes, cheesecakes, pies and chocolate-covered pretzel sticks.
Prices range from 99 cents for a bagel to between $5.95 and $7.25 for sandwiches.
The Winters will link up with nonprofit and community groups to do fund-raisers with a portable coffee cart. Wi-Fi is available in the restaurant.

Cuppy’s Coffee Baristas Trained To Offer Customer Service From the Start
Starbucks marketing campaign of closing all its stores for a mass retraining exercise has drawn both praise and ire from customers around the nation. Howard Schultz plan to revitalize the downward spiralling company may be for good PR but time will only tell if he succeeds.
Cuppy’s Coffee baristas are trained from day one to offer excellent customer service, pull each shot by hand and correctly apply recipes for an outstanding coffee experience. No retraining needed.
This is what our customers are saying:
When Cuppys opened on Hover in Longmont I first thought “another coffee place?” – and especially in close proximity to Sbux? But having visited there a couple of times and having had superior drinks and excellent service from the friendliest people imaginable, I’m sold. And with the cost of the cup significantly better than the alternative, I have more money to tip!
Way to go folks – keep up the GREAT work!

Elite Manufacturing Testimonial
“I am writing this to express my appreciation. Brian and Bob arrived in Tucson to install the mill work and do Elite’s portion of our store. Even though my General Contractor was behind schedule in the white box work, Brian and Bob got things moving, got everything installed and, in short, went way beyond what I expected. They were at the shop working at 0500 on most days, and stayed until 1800. They addressed several glitches professionally and to my complete satisfaction. Bob’s work on the finish work was exceptional….he is a true craftsman. They both went out of their way to explain things to me and displayed total competence and insight into the project, as well as superior customer relations skills.
Brian and Bob represented Elite Manufacturing the way I hope to represent Cuppy’s…. they delivered quality work, a quaility product, sooner than expected, and in a very professional manner. They went out of their way to ensure everything met or exceeded my expectations. Elite and Medina should be very proud to have them on their team. Thank you for having quality people like Brian and Bob to assist the owners through a stressfull time.”

Quiznos Faces Lawsuit
A group of more than 40 Quiznos Sub franchisees has filed a class action suit on behalf of the operators of nearly 5,000 domestic franchised branches of the sandwich chain, alleging the company has systematically defrauded franchisees in order to build the brand. The suit, filed this month in U.S. District Court in Denver, contends that the Denver-based Quiznos forces franchisees to purchase food, supplies and other services from the company or its affiliates at inflated prices while setting artificially low retail products for its products, making it difficult for franchises to make a profit. The suit also accuses Quiznos of misrepresenting key facts about the stores’ operations to sell franchises. The lawsuit seeks damages for franchisees’ lost investments and a court order that would halt Quiznos’ allegedly improper actions.

2008-02-21 — Ripple, an interactive network of screens located in community gathering places that informs, entertains, and connects people to their world, today announced the results of the company’s first audience study with Nielsen Media Research. The results confirm Ripple’s value as an effective platform for advertisers to connect with on-the-go consumers, an audience that has become increasingly difficult to reach using traditional media channels. By commissioning Nielsen Media Research to conduct this study, Ripple hoped to demonstrate a commitment to provide its partners and advertisers with credible third-party research in the areas of consumer satisfaction, viewership metrics, and advertising awareness. Will Flowers Replace Coffee?
Pictures of famine and war once graced our minds when it came to Ethiopia. This African country, still has a long way to go in terms of being a self sufficient stabilized country. Coffee is one of Ethiopia’s major exports to countries around the world dependent upon the caffeinated plants. The beans from this region are highly sought after by many sources. But lately in the news flowers from Ethiopia are starting to have an impact on the economy accounting for 1% GDP. This begs to ask the question: Will flowers replace Ethiopia’s dominant export coffee in the near future?
This from the newswires…
ADDIS ABABA (Reuters) – Pictures of emaciated children dying in their mothers’ arms during Ethiopia’s famine in 1985 cemented the country’s image as a barren land where nothing grows.
But just 30 minutes south of the capital, Addis Ababa, green hills and lush valleys abound, perfect for cultivating the country’s fastest growing export — flowers. (read the rest of the story)
Blending, the process of roasting different beans with others, creates some of today’s most popular coffee concoctions. At Cuppy’s Coffee our roasters used hand picked beans from around the world and expertly blends and hand roasts them to give our customers a true Italian experience.
